Mary Wood Park Receives Facelift

In other business, the Borough Council postponed a vote on a new sewer authority action plan.

Mary Wood Park in Conshohocken underwent several improvements in 2011, Joe Collins, chairman of the Mary Wood Park Commission told the Conshohocken Borough Council on Wednesday night.

Mature trees were planted in the park and two new lights were added in the area of the new trees, Collins said.  Collins credited the Montgomery County Open Space Program for funding the trees and the Conshohocken Shade Tree Commission for its efforts to add the trees.

The park’s playground equipment was replaced and a new safety surface was installed underneath the play equipment, thanks to two Community Development Block Grants, Collins said.

The council first looked at new action plan being undertaken by the sewer authority in April 2011, said Council President Paul McConnell.

McConnell told the council they could approve the document on Wednesday night or postpone the vote and review it in a council workshop.

The council chose to postpone the vote.

The sewer act will be reviewed at a council workshop scheduled for Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. and the council vote will likely be held later in February, McConnell told Patch after the meeting.

Borough Secretary and Treasurer Francis Marabella is working on setting up a joint meeting of the Sewer Authority and the Borough Council, McConnell said.

However, a date had not been scheduled for the joint meeting as of Wednesday night.
