You can mark it down: Germantown Pike, between Joshua and Church Roads in Whitemarsh Township, is going to be repaved. But as for where to mark it down on your calendar, that's still a big question mark.
That's according to Whitemarsh Township officials at Thursday night's monthly supervisors meeting. Chairman Robert Hart explained that Germantown Pike is a state-owned roadway, and its maintenance is therefore the responsibility of PennDOT.

PennDOT, working in conjunction with Montgomery County, has lumped the roadway into a larger improvements project that is now in motion.
"PennDOT had gone out to bid... and we hope to know in 45 days when it will be repaved," said Hart, adding that the project will include handicap ramps on the corners of intersections.

Hart later told Patch that PennDOT and the county will essentially create a priority list of all the roadways in the project to determine in what order they should be repaved. There is little indication as to where Germantown Pike will fall on that list.
However, when asked if it was reasonable to believe that repaving would begin within a year to two years, Hart said likely sooner.
