
Government aims to fasten the execution process of 95 hydro power projects with a total production capacity of 40,000 MW, which awaits clearances, disclosed Jyotiraditya Scindia, Power Minister. An Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) has been set up for fast-tracking the outlined hydro power projects.
“Efforts are being made in fast tracking the hydro projects in Arunachal Pradesh; the state has the maximum hydro power generation potentials, which is at about 50,000 MW,” said the minister.
Additionally, the government plans to add 88,537 MW power generating capacity in the next five years – involving 10,897 MW hydropower plants, 74,340 MW through to thermal and 5,300 MW nuclear plants.
