Major Step Forward In $325 Million Montco Development Project

A rooftop bar, lounge, adjacent 11-story office tower, and two new restaurants are part of the larger $325 million development project.

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled next month on a new boutique hotel in Conshohocken, part of a major $325 million new development that will bring numerous amenities to the area.

Hotel West + Main, a 127-room hotel run by Hilton, is part of the larger 520,000 square-foot SORA West project. That development will include a rooftop bar and lounge, an adjacent 11-story office tower, and two new restaurants

The tower will be the global headquarters of one of the richest companies in the world, AmerisourceBergen.

“We’ve connected one of the most important companies to one of the most important sites in a way that redefines Conshohocken’s skyline and ushers in a new era of downtown vibrancy for one of Greater Philadelphia’s most prominent submarkets," said Bill Glazer, the founder and CEO of Keystone Property Group, which is heading the development.

The site is located between Fayette and Oak streets, and West Elm Street and West 1st Avenue.

The groundbreaking for the hotel is scheduled for March 4, and officials hope it will open in late 2022. It's the first new hotel, and the third rebuilt hotel, to be constructed in Conshohocken in the last 21 years, according to Keystone.

Once the whole thing is completed, the property will integrate the restored, 146-year-old Washington Fire Company firehouse. The first floor restaurant, 1874 Social, will be named for the year the fire company formed. The second floor, the Hook and Ladder Skybar, is described as a gastropub.

Details on SORA West were announced a little less than two years ago, and the project has received significant investment from the state. While Keystone has owned the property and its older office buildings since the 1980s, movement towards SORA West did not begin until 2014 when the company petitioned Conshohocken for rezoning.
