Jolly Road at Turnpike Bridge to Close Wednesday

Detour in Plymouth and Whitpain Townships planned 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

From the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission:

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists that Jolly Road will be closed to traffic and a detour implemented between Township Line Road and Wentz Road starting at 8 p.m., Sept. 12.

The underpass at Jolly Road, where the Turnpike mainline bridge is under construction, will be closed at 8 p.m. between Township Line Road and Wentz Road in Plymouth and Whitpain Townships until 6 a.m., Sept. 13. Posted detour routes will direct traffic over Arch Street, Township Line Road and Union Meeting Road.

Signs have been posted to alert motorists of the scheduled closure. Local access on Jolly Road will be available from either direction to the bridge; however, there will not be any vehicle or pedestrian traffic allowed through the underpass during the closure. Additionally, a flagger controlled single-lane traffic pattern could be in effect after 6 a.m. if needed during clean-up. This schedule is subject to change depending on the weather. Rain date is Sept. 13.

The mainline Turnpike work is part of the total reconstruction project now under way on the Northeastern Extension (I-476) between the Mid-County Interchange and Berks Road (milepost 26).
