Manor Road Set to Reopen Tuesday
Manor Road in Whitemarsh will reopen for the first time since Hurricane Irene.
The wait is over: Manor Road is set to reopen Tuesday, after being closed for repairs ever since it was washed out by Hurricane Irene last August. Whitemarsh Board of Supervisors President Bob Hart told Patch that the road is scheduled for reopening at 4 p.m. Tuesday, six days ahead of schedule.
The reopening will likely be welcomed by residents, particularly those living south of Ridge in neighborhoods along the Schuylkill River. Those residents have been shut off from easy access to Ridge Pike, particularly with an eastbound destination such as Philadelphia, since last August.
Whitemarsh Township had reopened Hagys Mill Road for the first time in decades to allow residents easy access to the southeast, leading to between residents on both sides of the border that eventually of Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter. The road was then reclosed at the beginning of May.
