Notes from Plymouth Council: New Stop Signs, Citizen Board Vacancy

The following are news and notes from the July 11 Plymouth Township Council meeting.

Three new stop signs to be added

Council approved the implementation of the following three stops signs by a unanimous 5-0 vote. According to council, the placements of these stops signs were based on consultation with the police department:

  • Southbound Azalea Terrace at Knoll Road
  • Northbound and southbound Sierra Road at Black Hill Road
  • Westbound Beacon Hill Lane at Plymouth Rock Road

Mosquito sprayings ongoing
 
Councilman Vince Gillen reminded residents about the ongoing mosquito sprayings in the township. According to Guillen, the sprayings occur during the second and third weeks of each month in the following areas:

  • Saw Mill Run and its tributaries
  • Diamond Run
  • Portions of Valley Creek and its tributaries
  • Drainage areas near Pleasant Road
  • Drainage areas between Township Line and Butler Pike
  • Upper tributaries of Plymouth Creek
  • All Plymouth Township Parks and Recreation areas

Township seeking plumbing experience for Citizen Board vacancy

Township manager Karen Weiss says the township's volunteer Citizen Board is currently looking to fill a vacancy. According to the township webpage, the Citizen Board exists to construct, improve, maintain, operate and finance sewer systems and sewage treatment facilities. However, Weiss said that the board seldom meets and is seeking someone with plumbing experience or know-how.

GPCC construction continues

According to township staff, the construction at the Greater Plymouth Community Center is moving ahead on schedule, with flooring being put down this week.
