Plymouth Council to Discuss 'Ridge Park Hotel' Tuesday Night

Will hold special meeting at 6:30 p.m.

Plymouth Township Council will hold a special meeting before their regularly scheduled workshop session Tuesday night, to discuss a hotel proposal adjacent to Ridge Park Elementary School.

As , developer Prime Hotels, Inc. is trying to build a 110-room hotel at 2005 Chemical Road. An original application was denied by the Zoning Hearing Board in December, causing the developer to file an appeal with the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas, which has not yet been heard.

Attorney Craig Robert Lewis then appeared before township council last month and offered a settlement agreement, stating that his client was prepared to file a second suit claiming "," should their appeal be denied.

A Patch of readers said the township should reject the offer.

Council is scheduled to discuss concerns and issues related to the proposal at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night. An e-mail from councilwoman Maria Weidinger prompted her constituents to "join me in fighting this proposal."

Jeffrey Branagh, a member of the township Planning Agency, has been at the center of organizing opposition to the proposal on the social networking website Facebook. So far, 38 people have RSVPed as "going" to the meeting through the Facebook page.
