Plymouth Township Welcomes New Employees
The Township Council hired new staff at its recent meeting.
The Plymouth Township Council unanimously approved the hiring of a new police officer, a new fire marshal and a new fire police officer during Monday night’s meeting.
“We’re going to welcome some new members to the Plymouth Township family,” Township Council Chair Marty Higgins said before the new employees were sworn in.
Lifelong Plymouth Township resident Jonathan Marinelli, 25, was sworn in as a police officer. Marinelli, a 2011 Plymouth Whitemarsh High School graduate, received his Act 120 certification from Temple University and holds an Associate’s degree from Montgomery County Community College, where he graduated with honors.

Michael Matusheski was sworn in as fire marshal and Tanya Zekovitch was sworn in as fire police.
Matusheski will, in time, fill the seat of current fire marshal, Andy Mount, who will retire this summer.

“So there’s a smooth transition, we wanted to go ahead and hire a new fire marshal,” Higgins said.
In other business, the Council voted unanimously to sell two used police vehicles to Montgomery County for $1. The vehicles will be used in the Emergency Vehicle Operations Course training. With the donations, Police Chief Joseph Lawrence said the vehicle donations would allow the department to send additional officers to classes.
