Redistricting: Plymouth May Switch State Reps from Republican to Democrat
Swap of reps could change Plymouth in General Assembly.

If plans in Harrisburg come to pass, districts for state reps would greatly change in Plymouth, switching parties. Following the 2010 Census, state officials analyzed the data and released a preliminary plan for redrawing districts through the state. As it stands, senators locally would see a minor boundary shift, but two reps would experience a significant alteration.
Democrat Rep. Michael Gerber's 148th District remains virtually untouched. All that he covers in Plymouth, Whitemarsh and Conshohocken will stay the same, with the swapping of some neighborhoods in Plymouth.
The big shift, however, is a new lawmaker for the majority of Plymouth Township: Rep. Matthew D. Bradford (D-70). Currently, representing Norristown and more rural Montgomery County towns, the Democrat will assume most of the township, with Gerber representing Plymouth near the Butler Pike.

That means Rep. Kate Harper (R-61) will no longer represent the area. She loses her coverage within Plymouth Township, and will pick up Montgomery County towns in Worcester and Kulpsville.
In the Senate, Daylin Leach (D-17) will retain his district within Plymouth Township but drops Conshohocken. That area goes to the other senator in the Colonial School District.

Sen. Vincent Hughes (D-7) will keep his Whitemarsh district while adding Leach's area in Conshohocken.
