·      If children will be trick or treating in the dark, give them glow sticks or put reflective tape on costumes so they can be seen more easily.

·      Choose a costume that is the right size to help avoid trips and falls.

Safe Kids Worldwide reports that children are more than twice as likely to be hit by a car and killed on Halloween than on any other day of the year. To help keep young children safe, consider these trick or treat steps:

·   Have an adult go with young children as they walk through neighborhoods

·   Agree on a route with familiar and well-lit areas that children can take if they are trick-or-treating alone

·   Set a time when children must return home

·   Remind children to not eat any treats until they are home

·   Tell children to never enter a stranger’s home or car
