Weekly Whitemarsh Police reports.

All information is according to official police reports filed at the Whitemarsh Township Police Department. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Burglary:
At approximately 10:49 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, residents of a home on the 4100 block of Daisy Lane, Plymouth Meeting, called police to report a robbery in progress, after they returned home to find an upstairs bedroom in disarray and heard a noise in an adjacent room.

Police surrounded the house and used a K-9 to search the residence, but did not find the burglar. A neighbor told police she had seen a tall, skinny male running westbound through the rear of the property, but a search of the area also turned up empty.

The residents told police that a large amount of jewelry had been taken, along with a 50-pound safe. Detectives continue to investigate.

Criminal mischief:
At approximately 9:12 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, police were dispatched to the Green Valley Country Club for the report of property damage. Upon arrival, a GVCC employee told police that someone had broken through the gate of the maintenance shack sometime overnight and driven a golf cart through the course.

The golf cart was eventually crashed at the driveway between the radio station and the pool, and snowy footprints leading from the scene disappeared on Hunter Road. Another golf cart also had its dashboard ripped out, and a fire extinguisher taken from the halfway house was found discharged.

Criminal mischief:
At approximately 9:11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 31, Whitemarsh Police were dispatched to Leeland Park, located at the corner of 13th Avenue and Jones Street in the township's Conshohocken section, for the report of vandalism. There, a Parks and Recreation employee showed police that an unknown person had smashed parts of a urinal and a sink inside the pavilion with a rock. An electrical outlet box cover on the Jones Street side of the building was also smashed, police said.

Pot possession:
At approximately 3:24 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, a Whitemarsh Police officer reported that he caught two Giant employees smoking marijuana inside a vehicle in the store's parking lot, during a break from their shift. According to police, the two men admitted to smoking marijuana and to tossing a small bag containing the plant outside of their vehicle.

According to an incident report, both were cited for disorderly conduct.

Simple assault:
At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, a resident of the Conshohocken section of Whitemarsh Township told police that she had been physically assaulted by her boyfriend, who she said hit her, pulled her hair, and threw her to the floor.

After a second assault, the woman went to a nearby hospital, where doctors determined she had a broken rib and left pinky finger, she told police. Police arrested the 41-year-old boyfriend, who now faces assault charges.

Fraud:
At approximately 2:07 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2, the owner of a Lafayette Hill beauty salon reported to police that someone had tried to scam her. The owner told police that she had been contacted by a "Becca Winston," who claimed to be bringing a large party to the salon but could only communicate over e-mail because of hearing impairment.

However, after "Winston" requested that charges be paid in advance and that an excess amount be sent via Western Union to another party, the owner recognized the communications as a scam and notified police.

Harassment:
At approximately 7:41 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3, a Lafayette Hill woman reported to police that she had received a number of troubling text messages. According to the woman, someone had sent her several strange messages identifying her by name and saying that someone was trying to kill her, and also saying that the sender was trying to save her.

The woman told police that she did not know who the sender could be but did provide information on how her number may have been made public.
