Keim Street Bridge Rebuild In Pottstown Making 'Tremendous Progress'
Officials are hopeful the project to repair the bridge, a key connector between Montgomery and Chester counties, is ahead of schedule.

POTTSTOWN, PA — The ongoing project to rebuild the historic Keim Street Bridge in Pottstown is proceeding as planned and may even be ahead of schedule, Montgomery County Commissioner Tom DiBello shared in an update Monday.
Work began just over a year ago on the 800-foot long bridge, which connects Pottstown with North Coventry Township on the other side of the Schuylkill River. Originally built in 1935, it has been closed since 2010 due to structural deficiencies in the eight span, steel-pony truss.
"As you can see, they're making tremendous progress," DiBello said in a video shared from within the construction site. "Hopefully they're ahead of schedule, we know that that's a goal. We're really progressing forward."

Officials hope the bridge is open in late 2027, or sooner.
DiBello praised the contractor, H and K Group, for their tireless work every day. "They've been doing a phenomenal job," he said.

There is still much work to be done. The new bridge will feature 11-foot wide driving lanes in both directions, four-foot wide shoulders, and a six-foot wide sidewalk.
Once completed, the bridge will represent one of the most important connection points between Montgomery and Chester counties.
