164th Annual St. David's (Radnor) Country Fair & Auction

St. David's Episcopal Church invites the surrounding community to this old-fashioned, family-fun event - Saturday, October 3rd, 10am-4pm

St. David’s Episcopal Church of Radnor will host the 164th Annual St. David’s Church Fair and Country Auction on Saturday, October 3rd from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proceeds benefit St. David’s partners in ministry, including nearly 30 Delaware Valley and Philadelphia organizations and the Church’s international partners in Uganda, Guatemala, and Haiti. The event is one of the country’s longest standing fairs directly supporting and providing vital support for the most vulnerable in our community.

St. David’s is involved in numerous feeding, housing, educational, and community support ministries through direct volunteer, financial, and collaborative guidance support. In 2014-2015, St. David’s gave nearly $100,000 in outreach grants to help our local and international partners. Awarded funds helped establish a high school placement and graduate support program at the St. James School in the Allegheny West neighborhood in Philadelphia, construct a center for inner city youth through Episcopal Community Services, provide essentials to more than 50,000 children in our surrounding community through Cradles to Crayons, and provide food to the St. John’s Feeding Ministry, which feeds over 600 meals a week to the homeless and working poor in Norristown. Fair booths such as Second Hand Rose, the popular shop for gently worn clothing, and House of David, which features exclusive, high-end designer clothing, donate unsold goods to local charities and families. Past donation recipients have included the Neighborhood League of Wayne, Purple Heart, and Goodwill. “The generosity we receive through our neighbors and patrons at the Fair is, through our outreach ministries, spread all over the world throughout the year,” said the Rev. Matthew Welch, who oversees outreach ministries at St. David’s. “The purchase of an antique clock at the flea market could become a month’s worth of clean socks for a local child in need—the giving is that direct.”

Each year the Fair draws crowds of more than 4,000 people from St. David’s neighboring communities. Fairgoers enjoy its charming attractions and family fun, held rain or shine. For the kids, there are a variety of Midway games and inflatable rides, as well as a train ride, pony rides, a climbing wall, face painting, pumpkin decorating, scarecrow making and more. Attendees enjoy the Fair’s tasty treats, including lunch from “McDavid’s Grill,” old-fashioned lemon sticks, caramel apples and homemade baked goods. Bargain hunters won’t want to miss the Fair’s popular flea market, book, toy and sporting goods tents. The Fair’s biggest attraction, the live Country Auction, features an exciting day filled with bidding on a unique assortment of antiques, collectibles, furniture and art. All auction items will be available for preview at 8:30 a.m. on October 3rd. The live auction will begin at 10:30 a.m.
