Please join over 500 runners and supporters for this fun family day race. The purpose of Zane’s Run is to spread awareness and raise money to support families with children who have been diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). SMA is a terminal, genetic disease that leads to the loss of nerves in the spinal cord, which results in the weakening of the muscles associated with these nerves. Babies born with SMA 1 require around the clock care and have a life expectancy of between 1-2 years. In 2009, Zane Schmid at 6 weeks old was diagnosed with SMA 1. Although Zane passed away at the age of 5 1/2 months, her family and friends remain hopeful that there will be a CURE one day. For more information on Zane’s story. Please visit www.zanesrun.com
