Delco Man Tried To Rape Elderly Woman In Philly Home: Police

Philly Police said the Delaware County man and another man broke into the home then sexually assaulted and robbed the 82-year-old resident.

LANSDOWNE, PA – Police in Philadelphia said arrested a Delaware County man suspected of breaking into a West Philadelphia home and sexually assaulting an 82-year-old woman with another man, as well as stealing items from her home.

Darius Johnson, 23, of Lansdowne, was arrested in Delaware County on Monday, July 30 in connection with the July 19 incident, police said.

Johnson now faces charges of attempted rape, burglary, robbery, simple assault, risking a catastrophe, conspiracy, and related charges, according to police.

Police are searching for the second suspect.

Johnson is accused of breaking into the victim's home on the 6000 block of Sansom Street at about 8 p.m. on July 19, police said.

Johnson and the other suspect allegedly sexually assaulted the victim and then stole items from her home, police said.

Both were wearing towels over their faces and are believed to have started a fire at the rear of the house in their break-in attempt.
