Valley Forge Military College sophomore Rebecca Timm named Regimental Commander and First Captain
Wayne, PA – Cadet Rebecca Timm of Montrose, PA was selected as the Regimental Commander and First Captain at Valley Forge Military Academy and College (VFMAC). The Regimental Commander is the highest ranking position within the Corps of Cadets and supervises the daily operations of the Corps, establishes its moral and ethical direction, and leads ceremonial events of the Corps such as parades and formations. In addition, as Regimental Commander, Cadet Timm also serves as Chair of the VFMAC Honor Council.
In selecting the Regimental Commander, Valley Forge Military Academy & College uses a holistic Cadet Assessment tool which is based on a combination of grade point average, 360 degree assessments from instructors and peers that assess each Cadet’s leadership performance and potential, and physical fitness. Cadet Timm earned the highest combined score.
Cadet Timm came to Valley Forge Military College from Montrose Area Jr/Sr High School. While there are three paths to earn a degree a Valley Forge Military College, Cadet Timm qualified for the Early Commissioning Program. Valley Forge Military College is one of only five ROTC regiments in the country to offer this unique program and the only one in the northeastern United States that offers qualified freshmen the opportunity to participate in an Early Commissioning Program. This program leads Cadet Timm to a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserves or Army National Guard at the end of her sophomore year upon graduation.

At Valley Forge Military College she has excelled. Upon completion of her freshmen year this past May, at the College Awards Ceremony, Cadet Timm earned several accolades including the National Society of the United States Daughters of 1812 award which is presented to a cadet who has demonstrated qualities of Academic Excellence, Leadership, Military Discipline, Dependability, Patriotism and upright character in speech and habits, which exemplify the ideals upon which our Nation was founded. She received the Department of the Army Superior Cadet Decoration Award which is presented to the outstanding cadet in each class of the SROTC and based on demonstrated officer potential. Ms. Timm also earned the McCloskey Medal which is awarded to those cadets who have attained the highest disciplinary reputation in their respective class.
This summer, Cadet Timm was selected to attend the United States Army Airborne School. Selection was extremely competitive. Widely known as Jump School, the Airborne School conducts the basic paratrooper (military parachutist) training for the United States armed forces. It is operated by the 1st Battalion (Airborne), 507th Infantry, United States Army Infantry School, Fort Benning, Georgia. The Airborne School conducts the Basic Airborne Course, which is open to troops of both genders from all branches of the United States Department of Defense and allied military personnel. The purpose of the Basic Airborne Course is to qualify the student in the use of the parachute as a means of combat deployment and to develop leadership, self-confidence, and an aggressive spirit through mental and physical conditioning. All students must volunteer to attend the course. The course is three weeks long and consists of three phases: “Ground Week,” “Tower Week,” and “Jump Week.” Rigorous physical training (PT) is emphasized throughout the entire course.

Currently in her sophomore year, Cadet Timm is majoring in Health Sciences. Given her demonstrated accomplishments, dedication, commitment, and perseverance, under Cadet Timm’s command, the Corps of Cadets and Cadet Leadership are poised to excel.
