Winter Storm Targets Radnor: Latest Forecast, Cancellations, How To Prepare
A potentially record-breaking winter storm is predicted to hit the Philadelphia region this weekend. Here are details in Radnor.
RADNOR TOWNSHIP, PA — A potentially record-breaking winter storm is predicted to hit the Philadelphia region this weekend. Forecasters estimate the area could see 12 to 18 inches of snow on Sunday continuing into Monday. See the detailed forecast here. The National Weather Service said the last time at least 12 inches of snow in one day in Philadelphia was January 23, 2016, when 19.6 inches of snow fell.
The Radnor Township Municipal Building will be closed to the public on Monday. Also the Radnor Township Board of Commissioners Meeting is cancelled on Monday. The next meeting will be held on Feb. 9.

- Primary roads and bus routes
- Secondary (collector and through) roads
- Residential streets, cul-de-sacs, and dead-ends
Here are the rules on snow removal:
- Property owners must clear a 2-foot-wide sidewalk path within 24 hours after the snow emergency ends. Citations will be issued by Tuesday, January 27, if sidewalks are not cleared for pedestrian safety.
- Do not push snow into the street—this is prohibited by Township ordinance.
- Please consider helping by clearing snow around nearby fire hydrants (3-foot path and clearance).
- Please consider moving cars into driveways or parking lots to allow plow crews to safely and efficiently clear roads.
"We are all bracing to endure a long winter weather event this weekend, especially our staff who will be working a 48-hour storm management shift in freezing temperatures," the township announced on its website.

Residents in Radnor Township should be aware of snow removal guidelines in the township code. Here's what the local ordinances say:
- A. Any person whose duty it is to comply with the provisions of this article who permits or suffers snow to stay on the sidewalk for more than 24 hours after the snow has ceased to fall or shall permit ice to remain on the sidewalk and not covered with a material designed to alleviate the slippery condition shall be subject to a fine of $50, plus costs, for each offense.
- B. Each day or part of a day in which any such snow or ice remains after it should be removed shall constitute a separate offense.
Section 1 and 2 of the code lays out snow removal procedures for township properties:
- It shall be the duty of all owners, tenants and occupants of buildings or land abutting on a paved sidewalk on a public highway to cause such sidewalk to be kept clear of snow and ice in front of their respective premises.
- Snow and ice removed from sidewalks, driveways and other private property shall not be deposited or plowed into any public street or highway. The existence of any such deposit on a street or highway in front of a sidewalk, driveway or private property shall be prima facie evidence of a violation of this section by the owner, tenant or occupant thereof.
