1st Manayunk Design Crawl Set For Oct 3

Various Manayunk businesses and firms will host a variety of design events and open houses, such as a panel event, workshops, and more

MANAYUNK, PHILADELPHIA — A new event is coming to Manayunk and it will bring all things architecture, design, and fashion to various Manayunk businesses.

The first ever Manayunk Design Crawl will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3.

Manayunk businesses will host a variety of design events and open houses, such as a panel event, workshops, and more in partnership with Design Philadelphia.

"We’re thrilled to be bringing the design community to Manayunk for a night," said Megan Douress, Director of Marketing & Events of the Manayunk Development Corporation (MDC). "We have a significant amount of design firms and businesses in the neighborhood already so we’re really happy that we can bring a city-wide initiative here and really showcase what they bring to Philadelphia."

The night of design will kick off at Kismet Cowork – Manayunk, located at 4230 Main St., with a panel event titled "Design for the Rest of Us: The Universe of Design Outside of Center City."

Featured panelists include Mary Dougherty, owner of Nicole Miller Philadelphia; Mona Ross Berman, owner of Mona Ross Berman Interiors, Scott Kelly, co-founder and principal-in-charge of Re:Vision Architecture; and Christopher Plant, owner of Kismet Cowork.

Guests who register before the panel will receive a virtual swag bag of Manayunk deals.

Many of Manayunk’s businesses will host designer workshops throughout the night.

Urbanburb Furniture is having a furniture and cocktails workshop from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Johnny Destructo’s Hero Complex will host 30-minute illustration demonstrations and printing using PROCREATE, an illustration app.

Ongoing events include a local maker open house at Pineapple on Main, and a fashion and architecture interactive with Nicole Miller Philadelphia and VSBA Architects and Planners.

Jefferson University students will display some of their work when they design the windows at LILA Fashion International, Nicole Miller Philadelphia, Pineapple on Main, and Liberty & Lace Bridal.

Many of Manayunks design firms will open their doors to guests for the evening as well, including MNYK Studios, Designblendz, EY Intuitive, Viridian Landscape Studio, and more.

There are over 700 spaces are available in parking lots conveniently located throughout the commercial district

  • Main and Levering Streets
  • Venice Island via Main and Lock Streets
  • Venice Island via Main and Cotton Streets
  • Venice Island via Carson Street (across from Post Office)
  • 4000 Main Street - Night time and weekend parking only
  • Valet parking is available at various locations on Main Street for evening diners and shoppers (after 6 p.m.)
