2018 Review: Mother Dies In Forced Landing At Philly Airport
One of 2018's biggest stories: a New Mexico woman died after nearly being sucked out of an airliner when the engine blew and broke a window.

Tragedy struck Philadelphia, New Mexico, and Southwest Airlines in April as a woman died after being partially sucked out of a Southwest Airlines jet when shrapnel from a damaged engine broke a jet window.
On April 17, Southwest Airlines flight #1380, heading to Dallas from New York, was forced to land at the Philadelphia International Airport due to jet engine caught fire and a piece of shrapnel pierced a window, partially sucking Jennifer Riordan, 43, of Albuquerque, New Mexico out of the plane.
In the following days, more details emerged about the incident, including the calm reaction from pilot Tammie Jo Shults, Rirodan's life and community activism, and passenger's recounting the harrowing moments on the flight.
