AIM Academy Announces Purchase of River Park 2 Complex in Conshohocken

AIM Academy has purchased the 4.5 acre property at 1200 River Road including its main school building from Buccini-Pollin Group.

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA – AIM Academy, an independent school for children with language-based learning differences, announces the purchase of the school’s historic school building and surrounding properties at 1200 River Road along the Schuylkill River in Conshohocken from the Buccini-Pollin Group.

AIM Academy, known as Academy In Manayunk when it was founded in 2006, moved to the 1200 River Road Location (also known as River Park 2) in 2012 from two school locations in Manayunk. The school, which has grown from 24 students in 2006 to 312 today, is proud to call the beautiful site on River Road home.

“As AIM’s community and our student body have grown, so have our needs for increased space to provide unique programs and recreation space,” said AIM Executive Director Pat Roberts. “Purchasing the 4.5 acre River Park 2 space outright stabilizes the future of our growing school and allows us to look ahead to educating children and educators today and in the future.”

The 71,000 square-foot building currently houses Lower, Middle and Upper school classrooms, administrative space, conference rooms for professional development and student support services including occupational therapy and speech and language therapy.

The River Park 2 structure sits directly adjacent to AIM Academy’s newly constructed AIM Community Center (ACC), which officially opened last May. The 23,000 square-foot ACC, which features a full-sized gymnasium, stage, black box theater, green screen space and fitness center, also houses the school’s flourishing arts department. A $1.5 million RACP grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development helped launch the development of the $8 million ACC building.

“We have called this building on River Road AIM’s home since moving our students here exactly five years ago,” said AIM Associate Director Nancy Blair. “The purchase of the building will not only bring cost savings to our non-profit school, but also increases our opportunities to foster evidence-based learning programs, share our experiences with others and allow bright students who learn differently to discover their passion and prepare for college and careers."
