EAST FALLS—The Thomas Mifflin School in Philadelphia’s East Falls neighborhood will celebrate the back-to-school season, host a party for the neighborhood, and raise funds to fill their renovated library with reading materials as part of the Mifflin School Community Festival—an inaugural event to rally support for public education in the community. The festival is taking place on Saturday, November 10, from noon until 3:00 p.m.
The free community celebration will feature fun for the whole family, including: face painting, clowns, music by hip-hop children’s group the Diva Dollz, dance performances and lessons by Merge Dance Studio, children’s games, storytelling, a student artwork sale, snacks, school & architectural tours, sing-alongs, and even karate lessons by Hidden Tiger Studio.
In addition to bringing the community together in support of the Mifflin School and public education, the event is aimed at supplementing the school’s resource fund by raising money to help fill its beautiful renovated library with reading materials for the 300 pre-kindergarten through 8th graders who attend the school.
