Art Center Celebrated Third Annual Exhibition

The exhibition and award ceremony was held Sunday.

Founded in 1953, is a non-profit educational institution. The two-story brick 19th century brick horse stable has existed since 1962 with art classes offered on the second floor.

As a membership organization operated by a volunteer board of directors, the art center offers a full complement of creative educational services to families, individuals and artists in the Roxborough/Manayunk community as well as the greater Philadelphia area. There are approximately 100 active members and 25-35 local artists who contribute to MRAC in various volunteer capacities.

The third annual exhibition award winners included first place winner Sean Montgomery for his sculpture named "Free," second place Tanya A. Bhagwat for a graphic piece called "Options Bought, No Food For Thought," and third place winner Lynnette Shelly for a graphic piece titled "The White Buffalo (and the red)."

Jurors recognition certificates were given to Eric Slade for his painting "Green Lane" and Lauren Rinaldi for her painting "Profile Pic."

Several other memorial awards were given to other area artists.
