Best Of Manayunk Winners Announced

The winners of the second annual Best of Manayunk contest have been announced.

After lots of voting – about 10,000 votes in total – the winners were announced at the Best of Manayunk cocktail party Thursday, March 23 that also served as a fundraiser for the Friends of Pretzel Park which will put the funds toward general, playground, and dog run improvements at Manayunk's Pretzel Park.

Some highlights from the contest, which featured 51 sub categories under live, shop, dine, play, and readers’ choice categories, include Bourbon Blue for "Best First Date Spot," Spin Barre Fusion classes at The Wall Cycling Studio for "Best Workout," Pineapple on Main for "Best Place to Shop For the Home," and Pretzel Park for "Best Place to Bring Your Four-Legged Friends."

In addition, the editors of Manayunk Magazine handed out six "Editors' Choice" awards, with categories ranging from District Visionary Award to Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

"The Best of Manayunk really started as a way to highlight our great district," Jane Lipton, executive director of the Manayunk Development Corporation (MDC), said in a press release. "People don’t always think of Manayunk as a part of Philadelphia, and to them we say, 'We're here!' We have a booming restaurant and retail community that continues to grow.'"

Back in November, MDC asked the public for nominations in the 51 categories and got a few thousand nominations then narrowed each category down to five choices for the public vote.
