King has a zest for life that’s simply contagious- you can’t help but smile when you see him smile, and you’ll find yourself laughing every day at his silly antics! King loves going outside with his favorite volunteer friends and doing zoomies in the play yard – being in the great outdoors is FUN! A tireless innovator, King can entertain himself for hours with his favorite toys, like his beloved Jolly Ball, which he loves to toss in the air, chase after, catch it, and then start the fun all over again!

Don’t think King’s all about fun and games, though! This well rounded dude also has a serious side, and is capable of great focus- especially when there are cookies at stake! Yes, King is highly treat motivated (pepperoni is his favorite!) and will do anything for a reward- this will make training King a breeze!

Right now, King is working on learning basic commands such as “sit”, “down”, and “drop it”, with the help of something called a clicker, which is basically a tool that helps King to know when he’s done what was asked of him successfully- sort of like an “atta boy” for dogs! This super handsome boy is also hard at work learning how to walk like a gentleman on the leash with the help of an Easy Walk harness- he wants to make sure that his leash manners are perfect so he’ll get to go on lots of walks with his family once he’s adopted!

Already have another dog? That’s great, because King absolutely loves other dogs! Right now King doesn’t always realize that all dogs may not like him as much as he likes them, so volunteers are helping him to get lots of positive dog interactions and playdates, so he can be a kinder, gentler doggie friend. Got cats? King seems to have the same exuberance for playing with cats (they’re just small dogs, right?), and while he does seem to have nothing but good intentions, he might be a bit too much dog for some cats.

King participates in ACCT Philly's Pen Pal Program. King is currently paired with a volunteer who works with him on a regular basis to teach him basic commands, provide him exercise and help to keep him stress-free and happy while living in the shelter.
