Card Skimmer Found At Philadelphia 7-Eleven: Police

PHILADELPHIA – A card skimmer was located last month at an ATM inside a convenience store in Philadelphia, Philadelphia Police announced Thursday, Oct. 5.

Police said the skimmer was located at an ATM inside a 7-Eleven at 5800 Rising Sun Ave. in Philadelphia's Lawncrest neighborhood.

Police released footage from that 7-Eleven in hopes of the public identifying the person responsible.

The footage shows a man entering the store at about 6 a.m., Friday, Sept. 29 and placing the skimming device on the ATM.

Police later recovered the device which, consists of a green globe-shaped card reader and PIN-recording camera which attached to a frame around the cash slot, according to police.

Police said the device were fitted over the ATM card and cash slots, allowing those responsible to learn debit and credit card account information, as well as PIN numbers.

The suspect is described as a white man between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet tall with a thin build, about 160 pounds, a large nose, and black hair, police said. He was wearing a black leather jacket, light blue jeans with a red design on the left thigh, and white Converse Chuck Taylor sneakers, police said.

The announcement comes on the heels of two men being arrested in connection with a widespread card skimming operation that targeted Philadelphia and surrounding areas.

The public shot not approach the suspect is he is seen, rather they should call 911 immediately, police said.
