Closing of the Ugly Moose restaurant in Manayunk announced by owner

A portion of the proceeds of the final night dinner on New Year's Eve will be donated to the Police Survivor Fund

J.P. Boles, the owner of the Ugly Moose, one of Manayunk’s most popular restaurants, has announced that the final night of business for the restaurant will be on New Year’s Eve. Boles will donate a portion of the proceeds from that night to the FOP Lodge #5 Police Survivor Fund.

The owner sold the property to a developer. The restaurant opened in 2001 and quickly became very popular. In 2009 the national newspaper USA Today named the Ugly Moose among the “Top 10 Irish Restaurants.” In addition to Manayunk, the Ugly Moose has been frequented by patrons from Roxborough and Philadelphia.
