Dalessandro's Wins Cheesesteak Bracket Contest
Cheesesteak lovers filled out their steak brackets in March, and Roxborough's always busy Dalessandro's took the championship.

ROXBOROUGH, PHILADELPHIA — Roxborough: You're home to the 2023 Philadelphia Inquirer Cheesesteak bracket winner.
In the heart of March Madness, the Inquirer launched its own bracket, aiming to crown the top cheesesteak in the city according to its readers.
But with the brackets filled out and the women's and men's NCAA basketball championship tournaments over, Dalessandro's claimed the title.

Sixteen cheesesteak spots from around the city were in the bracket, which was broken up into North, Central, South, and South South (like, deep South Philly south).
Dalessandro's was up against beloved cheesesteak giants such as Angelo's Pizzeria, John's Roast Pork, and Ishkabibble's.

"Dalessandro’s is an old-school classic, but that’s not all it takes to make a champion (see Pat’s and Geno’s)," the Inquirer wrote. "Despite its long lines, the Roxborough shop is beloved by locals and tourists alike. Congrats to the champs."
According to the Inquirer, Dalessandro's won 22.7 percent of brackets filled out by its readers.
Coming in second was John's Roast Pork, winning 19.2 percent of brackets.
Dalessandro's won 48 percent of final rounds in the bracket contest, while John's won just 31.5 percent of final rounds.
The remaining top five slots were rounded out by Angelo's (17 percent), Jim's South Street (12.8 percent), and Steve's Prince of Steaks (7 percent).
The Inquirer said it got more than 12,300 votes in its bracket contest.
