Democratic National Convention Releases List of Headline Speakers

Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, and more.

Philadelphia, PA -- The list of headline speakers for the upcoming 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia has been released, and it includes nearly all of the most significant figures in the party today.

President Obama, former President Bill Clinton, Vice President Joe Biden, and Sen. Bernie Sanders are some of the big names slated to speak at the upcoming convention, the DNC announced Friday afternoon.

Michelle Obama and Bernie Sanders will take the stage on Monday, July 25. They will be followed by Bill Clinton on Tuesday, Barack Obama and Joe Biden on Wednesday, and Hillary and Chelsea Clinton on Thursday.

In addition, it has been reported that Sen. Elizabeth Warren has a "marquee" speaking slot on Monday, first night.

The schedule and "themes" for each day are as follows, according to information released by the DNC:

  • Monday: United Together
    • Undocumented immigrant, "dreamer" Astrid Silva will join Michelle Obama and Bernie Sanders
  • Tuesday: A Lifetime of Fighting for Children and Families
    • Bill Clinton will be joined by "mothers of the movement" including the mothers of victims of gun violence: Gwen Carr, Mother of Eric Garner; Sybrina Fulton, Mother of Trayvon Martin; Maria Hamilton, Mother of Dontré Hamilton; Lucia McBath, Mother of Jordan Davis; Lezley McSpadden, Mother of Michael Brown; Cleopatra Pendleton-Cowley, Mother of Hadiya Pendleton; Geneva Reed-Veal, Mother of Sandra Bland.
  • Wednesday: Working Together
    • Barack Obama and Joe Biden
  • Thursday: Stronger Together
    • Hillary and Chelsea Clinton

Additional speakers will be announced in the coming days.

The DNC will take place at the Wells Fargo Center from July 25 through July 28.
