PennDOT Launches Special Traffic Website Ahead of DNC In Philadelphia
Real-time traffic conditions, street closures, alternate routes, and more will be posted during the Democratic National Convention.

Getting around during the upcoming Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia might be tricky.
That's why the Pennsylvania Department Transportation has launched a special traffic website for visitors and residents to utilize as crowds swarm into the region.
Governor Wolf's office announced the initiative - www.511pa.com/DNC - which will be in effect leading up to and during the DNC at the Wells Fargo Center on July 25 though July 28.

“The convention will bring thousands of delegates, media and visitors to Philadelphia and this site will help everyone keep on top of changing traffic conditions and information about street closures and restrictions,” Wolf said in a statement. “As we did with last year’s Papal visit, my administration has worked very hard to assist travelers during this important national event."

The site will amalgamate information from both PennDOT’s 511PA site and the Pennsylvania Turnpike’s travelers’ information site. Real-time traffic conditions, street closures, alternate routes, and other relevant updates will be posted.
“We want to keep inconvenience to our visitors and residents alike at a minimum during the DNC, and this tool is one way they can become aware of changing traffic conditions,” PennDOT Secretary Leslie S. Richards said in a press release.
The Secret Service recently announced their security plan for the DNC, which includes planned restrictions on I-95 and in the area surrounding the Wells Fargo Center. For details, see here.
