LeSean McCoy To Reportedly Meet With Philly DA

Will charges be pressed against LeSean McCoy? The ex-Eagles running back is meeting with Philly District Attorney R. Seth Williams Tuesday.

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- The day after rumors swirled that the LeSean McCoy nightclub brawl might have been instigated by one of the off-duty Philadelphia police officers, a report claimed that McCoy was set to meet with the Philadelphia District Attorney Tuesday.

The meeting with R. Seth Williams and prosecutors at the DA’s office will take place at 3 p.m. Tuesday, NBC 10 reports.

Former Eagles running back McCoy, along with three other NFL players, were allegedly involved in a brawl with two off-duty police officers at the Recess Lounge night club in Old City at about 2:45 a.m. on February 7.

The fight, which allegedly started over a bottle of champagne, landed the two cops, both 40-years-old, in the hospital. One of them suffered a possible skull fracture.

Surveillance footage at the scene captured McCoy and the others being kicked out of the club, while cell phone video footage of the fight clearly shows McCoy and the others taking swings at the cops with security tries to break the brawl up.

However, a source has told the Buffalo News that the fight began when one of the cops took a bottle of champagne from McCoy’s table and his friend confronted the cop over it.

As the two began fighting, the report alleges that McCoy saw the cop with his hand around his friend’s throat, and threw a punch at the cop.

The punch missed, however, the report states, and McCoy was not involved in the rest of the brawl. Security guards reportedly suggested to McCoy that he quickly leave to avoid “public exposure.”

Controversy has erupted as Fraternal Order of Police organizations do not believe that the case against McCoy and his friends has been moved along quickly enough. Williams issued a statement urging patience and telling the public to trust the process.

“I’m only going to operate on one timeline: the timeline that ends when all the evidence is collected, has been reviewed, and I have made the decision to charge or not charge a case,” he said. “We’re not going to rush because people are impatient.”

McCoy, who now plays for the Bills, is a Philadelphia native and the Eagles’ all-time franchise leading rusher.

The exact details of what McCoy and Williams will discuss are unknown.
