Roxborough Applebee's Customer Wins Free Food For A Year
A Philadelphia resident won the contest after dining at the Roxborough location.

Joseph Wilson, a Philadelphia resident and a customer from its Roxborough Applebee’s location, was named the winner of the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation “Free Applebee’s for a Year” contest.
Wilson was selected from a drawing of the thousands of individuals who showed their generosity throughout Applebee’s 10th annual campaign for ALSF. With the help of community members, The Rose Group raised more than $300,000 in 2014 to benefit the Foundation. Applebee’s restaurants in total have raised over $5 million since 2005.
“In today’s economy, we want to show our appreciation for those who donate their time and money toward this charity,” said Jeff Warden, CEO of The Rose Group. “We have been a supporter of Alex’s for many years and every year our patrons go above and beyond to show their support.”

From July 1 to Aug. 3, guests who donated $5 to ALSF had the opportunity to write their names on the paper lemon, signifying their donation and entering them in the “Free Applebee’s for a Year” contest. Participating Applebee’s restaurants also donated a portion of their proceeds from the sale of each glass of lemonade to ALSF. Some local restaurants hosted various events – including in-restaurant lemonade stands, contests, bake sales, and car washes.
With the help of corporate sponsors and thousands of individual lemonade stands, ALSF has funded more than 450 research projects nationally and has raised more than $80 million toward cancer research.
