Longtime Iconic Manayunk Restaurant To Close: Report

An iconic Manayunk restaurant has decided to shut its doors.

Derek’s Restaurant officially closed on Wednesday, November 25, according to Montgomery News.

It was reportedly shut down by the Philadelphia Revenue Department due to tax violations, the report states.

Owner Derek Davis said the problems started in 2006 when one of his employees he had left in charge of the restaurant’s finances began embezzling money and not paying bills, according to the report.

That left him in a hole from which he has struggled to emerge financially, the report states.

Derek’s was located on Main Street.
