Manayunk Elementary School Raises Funds For Green Space

MANAYUNK -- A Manayunk school wants to create a green space for children to play and learn, and it is seeking the funds to make their dream a reality. 

The "Green James Dobson Elementary School" initiative is gaining traction online, and a GoFundMe campaign has been established. Teacher Lauren Perez says that funding will be crucial to improving an environmentally healthy education for children:

Children need a safe, green space to play and learn. Please help us to make that a reality for the children of James Dobson Elementary in Manayunk PA. Your donation will be used to install native plants in the play space of our school. We would like to have the plants purchased and planted by April 22 2016. Your donation would make beautiful native plants available for young children to care for and enjoy for many years to come. Their gratitude can not be measured. Please donate!

They have a stated goal of $3000. As of Friday evening, they had raised $120.
