'Manayunk Gets LIT' Decorating Contest Offering $10K In Prizes

MANAYUNK, PHILADELPHIA — The holiday spirit has hit Manayunk, and this year a new competition is offering $10,000 in prizes to businesses that have the best decorations.

The first-ever Manayunk Gets LIT decorating competition is underway now and the public can choose the winners.

More than 60 businesses in Manayunk are participating in the inaugural decorating competition.

Each participating business was able to sign up for any of the six categories, including Best
Decorated Door, Best Decorated Window Display, Most "LIT," Most Original, Best Overall and Most Spirited Block.

The public is able to vote for their favorites as many times as they want from now until Dec. 16. To encourage participation by the public, the Manayunk Development Corporation will award one lucky voter a gift card to a Manayunk business each day of voting.

The Manayunk Development Corporation will host a press conference to announce the winners on Dec. 17.

"At a time where we can’t host our events but still want to bring people together and encourage
shopping small, we thought this was a good way to accomplish both goals" said Gwen
McCauley, Executive Director of the Manayunk Development Corporation. "This is a safe way
for families to come down to Main Street for some holiday festivities on their own time, which will
properly allow for social distancing."
