Manayunk Pizza Joint Featured In Philly Mag's 'Ultimate' Pizza Guide

MANAYUNK, PHILADELPHIA — Pizza is one of the most beloved foods in the world.

And Philadelphia has a number of spots that serve up some incredible pies.

But which places are the best?

Philadelphia Magazine writers Jason Sheehan and Maddy-Sweitzer Lammé published a list of the top pizza joints in Philadelphia.

"We went through a weird, out-of-the-blue pizza renaissance whereby our already very good pizza scene got catapulted into excellence thanks to the efforts of a few pizza obsessives who believed that Philadelphians would put up with just about anything — long lines, strange hours, unusual restrictions, limited menus, byzantine ordering policies — in order to get their hands on pies that weren’t just good for Philly, but some of the best in America," the two wrote in the "Pizza in Philadelphia: The Ultimate Guide" piece.

Among the top picks was a relatively new Manayunk spot.

The two tapped Pizza Jawn at 4330 Main Street in Manayunk for the list.

Pizza Jawn went from being a very popular pop-up to being a very popular brick-and-mortar in Manayunk. Their signature sesame-coated crust is actually different from a lot of what you’ll get at other pizza places in the city, and the around-the-block lines have died down, so you can actually get your hands on it.

Pizza Jawn offers classic round pies, thick Detroit style pies, and grandma pies, which are sheet baked with sauce on top of the cheese.
