Manayunk's Dobson School Breaks Ground On Open Space Project
The Manayunk's school's unique project, in collaboration with the Community Design Collaborative, will bring open space to school grounds.

MANAYUNK -- The Friends of Dobson has announced that they are ready to break ground on the first phase of the Community Design Collaborative's strategy for the open space at James Dobson Elementary School, 4667 Umbria Street.
A groundbreaking ceremony will be held at the school on Earth Day- Friday, April 22, 2016 at 2:00 pm.
This has been a project almost two years in the making. In a series of task force meetings, the Collaborative sought input from Dobson parents, staff, and community members and created their master plan.

The Friends of Dobson were able to obtain several grants and some of their stake holders have been invited to be a part of the ceremony. Councilman Curtis Jones and Destination Schuylkill River's Kay Sykora will be on hand. There will also be two Green Space Student Ambassadors from each home room in attendance.
The ceremony will be followed by a volunteer work day the next morning- Saturday, April 23 from 9:00 am-12:00 pm. The public is invited to come out and lend a hand. Light refreshments will be served.
