Manayunk's SOMO Opening South Philly Location

PHILADELPHIA – Fans of SOMO won't have to head up to Manayunk to enjoy the eatery's dishes and drinks for long, as the popular spot is opening another location on the opposite end of the city on South 13th Street.

SOMO SoPhi will be located at 3010 S. 13th St. and is expected to open in mid April.

Those who enjoy the Manayunk location will see familiar and new things at the South Philly spot.

SOMO SoPhi's first floor will be a "luxed-up" version of SOMO Manyaunk and features a a 1,900 square foot bar and lounge with large flat screen TVs.

The second floor will feature a cocktail bar with gray quilted leather, an open chef’s kitchen, and an 80-seat dining room.

Additionally, SOMO SoPhi will have outdoor seating, including a raised terrace with a significant view of the city skyline, and café seating separated by sidewalk planters for up to 40 diners on the sidewalk along Packer Avenue.

NFL All-Pro Offensive Guard and Philly native Jahri Evans and his wife Takia are partnering with designer-turned-restaurateur James Morrissey on SOMO SoPhi.

SOMO Manayunk opened nearly a year ago at 4311 Main St. in Manayunk.

"SOMO SoPhi encompasses the juxtaposition of eco-chic modern design and details with a nod to the industrial and maritime history of the area in which the building is located," Morrissey said.
