MANAYUNK, PHILADELPHIA — The Old Eagle Tavern on Markle Street in Manayunk is getting a new life with a craft beer and bourbon emporium opening soon.

Di Nenna and Spohn worked together on the interior design of the new space, which will seat a total of 75 guests inside, with 25 seats at the bar and another 50 at tables in the back room.
Additionally, sidewalk tables will seat up to 10 guests outside beginning in the spring, while a 20-seat rear patio will be introduced sometime after opening.

The menu will feature smoked BBQ sandwiches, a variety of pizzas and bar fare, including a charcuterie board, roasted Brussels sprouts, sautéed broccoli rabe, quesadillas, wings, cheesesteaks, hoagies and an innovative twist on burgers, which will all come served with fries and house-made “cheez wiz” for dunking.
In addition to a fresh new look inside and out the taproom will be one of the first licensees in the region to feature a high-tech, self-service tap system which provides customers with the ability to pour their own beer.
The system will not only allow customers to serve themselves, but also assists with managing over consumption.
Taps & Bourbon on Terrace will also feature a handful of wines, but the primary focus will be on bourbons, craft beers, bourbon-based cocktails, and other top-shelf spirits.
The business will open with more than 50 different bourbons, as well as a handful of rye whiskeys, gins, vodkas, tequila and mezcal, but Di Nenna and Spohn predict that the bourbon selections will reach 100 by spring.
Taps & Bourbon on Terrace will be open Mondays and Tuesdays from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m., Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m., with brunch beginning after the new year.
