The Phillies earned the top pick in Thursday's draft after a rough 2015 season in which they finished 63-99, the worst record in baseball.
The Phillies will make one more pick on Thursday night: the 42nd pick overall, which is the first pick in the second round. The Phillies do not have a pick in the competitive balance round, which includes a handful of teams between the first and second.

The last - and only - time the Phillies picked first overall in the draft was 1998. They selected Pat Burrell with that pick. Burrell eventually became a part of the club that led the Phillies to the 2008 World Series Championship.
