Potheads Coffee is a new spot for all things java coming to Ridge Avenue in Roxborough. Doors officially open at 8 a.m. Sunday.

ROXBOROUGH, PHILADELPHIA — A new spot for all your favorite coffee beverages is opening this weekend in Roxborough.
Potheads Coffee, 7620 Ridge Ave., will open its doors to the public officially at 8 a.m. Sunday.
Chris Watson and Jim Roberts told Patch they began working on opening their spot about a year and a half ago, and in October the acquired the Ridge Avenue space.

Luckily, the location was turnkey, save for some cosmetic work to make it fit the vibe they are aiming fore.
"It's pretty exciting to be opening," Roberts said Friday.

The roughly 2,200-square foot space features a first floor area that houses the barista counter. It seats about 20 to 25 people. The upstairs, which fits about 30 people, is more of a lounge area, with couches and other seating options, TVs, a large table for meetings, and more.
Customers can get all their favorite coffee beverages, such as lattes, cortados, frappés, espresso, and, of course, regular cups of joe. Each day, Potheads will offer pour-your-own light, medium, and dark roasts, decaf coffee, and a specialty flavor.
Potheads will launch with a slew of flavors for their beverages, as well. These include the pumpkin spiced "Whacko Jack O'Lantern," the salted caramel "Caramelot," the "Tiffany's Breakfast" breakfast blend," and "Grandmom's Cinnamon Sugar Cookie." Available flavors will rotate, Roberts and Watson said.
The punny flavor names lean into the business's tongue-in-cheek name, as well.
"The name was something that was played around with," Watson said. "Potheads was catchy enough and we thought it would attract some attention." The Potheads mascot on its logo is named Mo G, as in "emoji." And most of the flavors are accompanied by stylized versions of Mo G that reference their names.
Customers can expect to find some breakfast foods as well, such as egg sandwiches, hash browns, French toast, and fresh baked muffins. Potheads will also stock soft pretzels from Papa's Pretzel Place in Bristol. Additionally, the county will feature a grab and go case that will be filled with things such as yogurt and milk for kids. Pepsi products will also be available.
Watson and Roberts are aiming to integrate the business into the community, as well. They are seeking out sponsorships with local entities, hosting community groups, book signings, podcasts and more.
In the future, they hope to bring in local music, trivia, and open mic nights.
Also in the works for the future are latte flights, which will be four, 10-ounce latte samples of various specialty flavors. The menu for these will change monthly or bimonthly, focusing largely on seasonality, and will have the brand's signature clever names.
And, somewhere down the line, Watson and Roberts hope to secure a liquor license and begin serving cocktails such as espresso martinis and Irish coffee. When that comes to fruition, Roberts said customers could even order non coffee cocktails, like gin and tonic.
Regular hours are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. or 3 p.m., depending on volume, the business partners said.
