Roxborough Care Center Works To Improve Lives For Seniors

NewCourtland Senior Services is bringing much needed coordinated healthcare and supportive services to seniors in Roxborough.

The Adult Day Center at Journey’s Way has been incorporated into NewCourtland’s network, giving Roxborough seniors a bricks-and-mortar location for access to the care that they need and allowing them to live as independently as possible for as long as possible.

NewCourtland has served the neighborhood through the LIFE (Living Independently for Elders) Program for years but has never had an on-site presence there.

The NewCourtland Senior Services Center at Roxborough, located on the ground floor of the Pensdale Village Apartments, is conveniently located about half-way between NewCourtland’s Germantown and Allegheny LIFE centers and one of the only facilities of its kind in the Roxborough area.

Through the addition of this facility into the NewCourtland Network, Roxborough seniors will now have nearby access to meals, social activities, nursing care, and therapies on site, as well as physician and clinical care from the two nearby LIFE centers.

“This center will provide the support and medical care seniors need to remain independent, in the neighborhood they’ve called ‘home’ their whole lives,” Pam Mammarella, Vice President of Marketing and Government Affairs for NewCourtland Senior Services, said in a statement. “Like the city as a whole, Roxborough residents continue to age. NewCourtland will work with Center members to ensure that they age on their terms, in their own homes.”

The NewCourtland Senior Services Center at Roxborough currently serves a small community of about a dozen members, though NewCourtland plans to grow this number in the future.
