Roxborough, Manayunk Spots Have Must-Try Tomato Pies: Philly Mag

Two pizza places, one in Roxborough and one in Manayunk, were recently featured on Philly Mag's list of the best tomato pies in the city.

ROXBOROUGH-MANAYUNK, PHILADELPHIA — Tomato pies are one of the many foods that are inherently Philly. You can get tomato pies all over the city and around the suburbs.

But which places offer up the best tomato pies?

Well, Philadelphia Magazine recently put out a list, "All the Tomato Pie You Should Be Eating in Philadelphia Right Now," that lays out where you can get must-have tomato pies.

Among the pizzerias featured were two in Roxborough and Manayunk.

The magazine says Marchiano’s Bakery in Manayunk and Tony Roni’s in Roxborough (and its other locations), have some of the area's best tomato pies.

Here's what the magazine said about Marchiano's:

For old school, nonna-approved tomato pie, look no further than Marchiano’s, which has been making a southern Italian recipe passed down from the owners’ grandmother since 1984.

Hit up one of the seven locations of this local pizza chain in Roxborough or on the outskirts of Philly for a crisp, thinner-crusted take on the classic tomato pie.
