Roxborough Memorial Hospital Rejoins Aetna

The agreement returns Roxborough Memorial Hospital to Aetna's network of contracted hospitals for the first time since 2012.

ROXBOROUGH -- Aetna and Roxborough Memorial Hospital announced that they have reached agreement on a new three-year contract that took effect Feb. 1, according to a Wednesday press release.

The agreement returns Roxborough Memorial Hospital to Aetna’s network of contracted hospitals for the first time since 2012.

Under the contract, members of Aetna commercial and Medicare Advantage plans will be able to receive covered benefits, at in-network rates from Roxborough Memorial Hospital and its physicians, the release states.

“This is good news for Aetna members in the Philadelphia area,” Laurie Brubaker, president of Aetna’s operations in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Delaware, said in a statement. “We strive to offer our members broad access to quality facilities and physicians, and we’re glad Roxborough Memorial will be part of that effort.”

“We’re very happy to once again become an Aetna in-network provider,” Peter Adamo, chief executive officer at Roxborough Memorial Hospital said, according to the release. “Aetna members in the Roxborough area can now conveniently and affordably have their care provided at the hospital closest to home.”

Aetna provides health benefits to more than 1.6 million people in Pennsylvania. Those members have access to a network of 238 hospitals and more than 80,000 contracted physicians.

The hospital has been serving the medical and health care needs of the Roxborough, Manayunk, East Falls and northwest section of Philadelphia communities for more than a century, having first opened its doors in 1890.
