Roxborough ShopRite Bags Hunger Wednesday
By James Boyle Local firefighters and police will bag groceries during ShopRite to Fight Hunger event in Roxborough.

Local firefighters and police officers will be bagging groceries on Sept. 17 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the ShopRite of Roxborough to mark the official day to “Help Fight Hunger,” as declared by Governor Tom Corbett.
Six Roxborough community firefighters and police officers will be serving as honorary grocery baggers to cashiers at the ShopRite of Roxborough, which will be accepting monetary donations to help fill the shelves of community food banks.
“With nearly 50 million Americans, including more than 16 million children, suffering from food insecurity, ShopRite Partners In Caring, a year-round, community based charity, is helping to raise awareness and inspire action within their local communities through hunger-fighting initiatives. Since its inception in 1999, ShopRite Partners In Caring has donated $35 million to local food banks that support more than 1,700 charities in providing food assistance throughout the Northeast,” the store said in a statement.
