Roxborough student performs in "The Wizard Of Oz"

Ready to welcome you to Munchkinland, Sophia Henkel takes the stage at Walnut Street Theatre.

This holiday season, young talent from Roxborough will take the stage at Philadelphia’s most popular theatre company. Walnut Street Theatre’s production of the all-time classic musical, The Wizard Of Oz, celebrated its opening earlier this month and continues through January 8th.

Sophia Henkel, a 6th grader at St. Philip Neri School, plays a Munchkin in all weekend performances of the production. Henkel, who's been acting and singing since age 4, has previously performed at the Walnut in Mary Poppins. At the age of 8, she even performed as Dorothy in a separate production of The Wizard Of Oz.

Henkel, along with her 29 Munchkin cast-mates, are all members of The Theatre School at Walnut Street Theatre.
