Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued In Philly Area

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued through the Philadelphia region Sunday night.

The warning affects Philadelphia, Montgomery County, Delaware County, Chester County, Bucks County, and several counties in southern and central New Jersey.

The warning is in effect until 6:30 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, the storm is expected to progress along the following trajectory:

• 5:50 p.m.: West Norriton, Collegeville, Trappe, Cheyney and Valley Forge around 5:50 PM EDT.
• 5:55 p.m.: Norristown, lansdale, East Norriton, Conshohocken, Gradyville. Lima, King of Prussia and Paoli
• 6:00 p.m.: Newtown Square, Broomall, Plymouth Meeting and Concordville
• 6:05 p.m.: Wilmington, Ambler, Swarthmore, Penns Grove, Arden, Nether Providence Township, Trout Lake, Chelsea, Bryn Mawr and Radnor Township
• 6:10 p.m. Yeadon, Hatboro, Folcroft, Jenkintown, Narberth, East Lansdowne. Abington, Willow Grove, Drexel Hill and Morris Park
• 6:15 p.m.: Chester, National Park, Rockledge, Bryn Athyn, Ivyland. South Philadelphia, Beckett, Roxborough and Germantown
• 6:20 p.m.: Philadelphia, Westville, Swedesboro, Brooklawn, Feasterville- Trevose, Feasterville, Ben Franklin Bridge, Gibbstown, center city and Kensington
• 6:25 p.m.: Camden, Gloucester City, Bensalem, West Deptford, Bellmawr. Paulsboro, Beverly, Newtown, Langhorne and Audubon Park

Officials encourage residents to move indoors and to the lower floor of the building, if possible. If you are driving, authorities urge you to find a place to pull over and park.
