Police said a light colored or green Ford Explorer was parked on that block for six minutes, seemingly waiting for a target to walk by.
When the group of victims walked past the vehicle, five armed teens got out of the vehicle and opened fire on the group.
Killed was 14-year-old Nicholas Elizadle, of Havertown.
Other teens, ages 14 to 17, were hurt by gunshots but are in stable condition.
At least 64 shell casings were found at the scene.
Police said the 17-year-old victim may have been the target of the shooting, as one of the shooter chased him while shooting at him.
The teen was struck and fell to the ground, and the gunman stood over him, firing more rounds.
