It’s not too late to get creeped out at some of the scariest Philadelphia-area haunted houses. Here are some of the most terrifying (and adored) haunted houses, according to Yelp.

  • Bates Motel, 1835 Middletown Rd, Glen Mills

Yelp Review: “Hayride was creepy, the actors can and will grab you, they will also jump onto the hayride, it was insane!”

  • Pennhurst Asylum, Church St & Bridge St, Spring City

Yelp Review: “By far the scariest haunted house attraction that I have ever been too. Be warned you will be touched by the actors!!! Also the tunnel is pitch black. It is getting pricy, but you do get what you pay for and you will not be let down.”

  • Terror Behind the Walls (Eastern State Penitentiary), 22nd & Fairmount Ave, Philadelphia

Yelp Review: “It got way better! Not only is the whole thing more interactive - for the brave there are “trackers” that basically allow you to get grabbed and pulled aside by the monsters - but they also set up a speakeasy where you get one drink, then you can wonder around different cells to gamble, get your tarot cards read or check out Al Capone’s old cell. Overall, totally worth the money, an awesome Halloween activity that I recommend to everyone!

  • Fright Factory, 38 Jackson Street, Philadelphia

Yelp Review: “Best. Haunted. House. Ever. Such a great time. The people were professional actors. The costumes and make up were amazing. At one point I was thinking “wow. This is really good. Actually freaky.” Def recommend. And I’m a haunted house Halloween person. Very cool. Loved it.”

  • Valley Of Fear & The Original Haunted Hayride, 301 W. Bristol Road, Feasterville

Yelp Review: “I would never miss the Valley of Fear on Halloween. I understand that Halloween events are supposed to be “Scary,” but honestly, if it’s too frightening I really don’t enjoy myself. This event is just scary enough that it doesn’t ruin the fun for those who don’t like to be SUPER scared.”
