Wanted...Choir Singers for Sunday, April 24, 2016 Jubilee Mass at St. John the Baptist, Manayunk

Choir Singers are invited & welcomed to sing with us in Manayunk during the historical celebration of St. John the Baptist’s 185th Jubilee Mass led by Archbishop Charles J. Chaput on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at 11 am.

Music has been chosen to compliment the readings & texts of the day.

Special music will include:

J. S. Bach’s Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring

T. Matthew’s The Lord Is My Shepherd

W.A. Mozart’s Ave Verum Corpus & Gloria in Excelsis from his Twelfth Mass

P.C. Lutkin’s The Lord Bless You and Keep You

Hymns will include:

D. Shutte’s Sing A New Song

R. H. Prichard’s Love Divine, All Loves Excelling

R. E. Kreutz’s Gift of Finest Wheat

S. Toolan’s I Am the Bread of Life

R. DeBruyn’s To Jesus Christ, Our Sovereign King

Msgr. E. Murphy’s Christ The King

Expect Mass music to be varied in English, Latin, Greek, Metered & Chant, accompanied on organ & various instruments & a cappella. The choir will be directed by Kevin Chun. Bob Leso will assist.

Rehearsal will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 7 pm in the choir loft of St. John the Baptist [119 Rector St. at Cresson St., Philadelphia, PA 19127]. Tenors & Basses are especially welcomed to balance the Altos & Sopranos. Feel free to bring your choice of pot luck refreshments for rehearsal break. [Wait until you sing in St. John’s, if you have not had the opportunity already. I’ve been told that St. John’s is twice the size of the Academy of Music.]

After the Jubilee Mass there will be a block party reception in Pretzel Park directly across the street from the Church. The following are the Church’s instructions for the Jubilee Mass & block party that follows.

PARKING

Carpooling and walking is encouraged on day of event. Designated courtesy parking lots with all-day shuttle service will be on Main Street at Venice Island, and 4000 Main Street.

MASS

Seating for mass will begin immediately following the 9:00 AM Mass. PREP is cancelled that day and families are invited to attend Jubilee.

RSVP

Please RSVP By Friday April 15 if you plan to attend the Block Party Reception. Visit the Rectory to drop off your RSVP or in the collection basket. Cost is $10 for adults no later than April 22. Children under 10, priests, and religious attend Free. Cost day-of is $15 per person. All Parishioners and neighbors are invited to attend!

REGISTRATION

Check in at Registration at Church Entrance on day of event to receive your admission wristband if you registered in advance. Admission to block party on day of event is $15 per person. Call the Rectory with questions at 215.482.4600. Priests and Religious are requested to RSVP no later than April 15.

VESTING

Vesting will be in the Parish Social Hall, entrance is on Cresson Street.
